How to get there
On NY 3 between Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, just east of Panther Mountain and just south of Upper Saranac Lake, the Coreys Road will exit to the south. Follow this for about 3 miles. Park in the parking lot on the right, about 0.2 mile after crossing Stoney Creek.
You'll find the trailhead at the back right corner of the parking lot, just behind the registration kiosk. Be sure to wear waterproof hiking boots and consider bringing a walking stick. The trail can be wet, even if it hasn't rained recently.
The trail is clearly marked with signs. After about four miles, you’ll reach a clearing with a barn-like structure on the left and a ranger's residence nearby. Keep going, and you’ll come to a sign pointing the way to the Lower Falls. Follow it to the river, and you’ll find the first waterfall.
This hike is moderate. It’s not overly difficult, but it is fairly long. Lower Falls is more of a natural slide than a steep drop, as the river curves sharply through an S-shape and flows over the rocks.
