  • From I-87 northbound: Take Exit 30, follow Route 73 toward Lake Placid, then Route 86 through Saranac Lake, and continue via Route 186 and Route 30 south.
  • From I-87 southbound: Exit 38, follow Route 374 west to Route 3, then continue toward Saranac Lake and follow the same route.
  • From I-81: Take Exit 48, follow Route 342 to Route 3 & 30, then head north.

Access to the campground is through neighboring Fish Creek Pond Campground, with the entrance located near one of its interior sites—so don’t be surprised when you pass through another campground first.

Camping

With 287 campsites accommodating everything from tents to 40-foot RVs, Rollins Pond offers a comfortable yet natural camping experience. Many sites are set along the shoreline, giving campers direct water access and a sense of privacy that’s uncommon in larger campgrounds.

Amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dumping station, firewood sales, and a central shower building, along with a selection of wheelchair-accessible campsites and facilities. While there are no day-use areas on-site, campers can take advantage of those at nearby Fish Creek Pond Campground.

Paddling

Paddling is one of the standout activities at Rollins Pond. The long, narrow shape of the pond creates calm waters ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and rowing. Rentals are available on-site, making it easy for visitors to get out on the water.

Adventurous paddlers can explore connecting waterways that lead toward Fish Creek, turning a simple outing into a full-day excursion. Nearby Whey Pond offers additional access points, including a quieter, carry-in launch for smaller boats.

Hiking

The campground is surrounded by the expansive Saranac Lakes Wild Forest, which spans more than 79,000 acres. Trails begin right within the campground, including the Otter Hollow Trail, which connects to a broader network of routes.

Hiking here is less about steep mountain climbs and more about immersive forest walks, wildlife sightings, and peaceful exploration. Trails also link back to Fish Creek Campground, offering additional route options.

Fishing

Fishing opportunities are plentiful and varied. Rollins Pond is home to bass, northern pike, yellow perch, bullhead, and panfish, while nearby Black and Whey Ponds are stocked with brook and rainbow trout.

Whether you prefer casting from shore, paddling out to quieter spots, or trying your luck at a stocked pond, anglers of all skill levels will find something to enjoy. Just remember to secure your fishing license in advance.
