How to get there
The falls are located in the St. Regis Falls Scenic Campsite within St. Regis Falls village. From the village, drive toward Potsdam on NYS Route 458. Before crossing the St. Regis River, turn right and into the campground. Coming from Potsdam, take New York State Route 11B east. You will pass through the hamlet of Hopkinton. A right on State Route 458 will take you in to Franklin County. As you enter the village of St. Regis Falls, you will cross a bridge over the St. Regis River. Just past this on your left is the entrance to the campsite.
The campground is managed by the Town of Waverly and offers a classic outdoor setup, including tent sites, RV hookups, and rental cabins. There is no charge to view the falls.
There are two main spots to view the falls. The first is near the campground entrance—just head behind the office building to find an overlook that brings you right up to the edge of the cascade. You can also stroll along the riverbank from here for closer views.
The second option is further downhill. You can drive or walk past the St. Regis Pavilion and take the first left turn. On your left, you’ll see a footbridge that offers a wider, open view of the falls. While the falls are farther away from this angle, the vantage point is clear and great for photography, especially with a zoom lens.
The St. Regis River flows north into Canada and eventually joins the St. Lawrence River, not far beyond the New York–Quebec border.
