Campsite Brochure

Set beside a rushing Adirondack river and a picturesque waterfall, St. Regis Falls Scenic Campsite offers a laid-back escape where nature and small-town charm meet. It’s the kind of place where you can fish, hike, and relax all in one spot—without the crowds of larger parks.

How to Get There

St. Regis Falls Scenic Campsite is located in the hamlet of St. Regis Falls along the St. Regis River.

From Malone, take Route 11B west toward Potsdam, then turn onto Route 458 and follow it into the village. As you cross the St. Regis River, the campground entrance will be just past the bridge. If you’re already in the village, head toward Potsdam on Route 458 and turn into the campground just before crossing the river.

Camping

Camping here blends convenience with a scenic riverside setting. The campground, operated by the Town of Waverly, offers around 40+ sites that accommodate tents and RVs, along with cabins that can sleep small groups.  Facilities include electrical hookups, hot showers, flush toilets, and a dump station, making it more comfortable than many rustic Adirondack campgrounds.  The St. Regis River runs directly alongside the sites, and many campers return year after year for the relaxed atmosphere, family-friendly events, and easy access to nearby amenities like a beach, playground, and pavilion.

Paddling

While not a large lake destination, paddling opportunities still exist along the St. Regis River. The river provides a gentle setting for casual canoeing or kayaking, especially in calmer sections. For anglers and paddlers alike, the waters above the dam are better suited for small boats and slow exploration, particularly if you’re trolling or looking for quieter fishing spots.

Hiking

Hiking here is centered around short, scenic walks rather than long backcountry treks. The highlight is the easy trail system within the campground that leads to viewpoints of the St. Regis Falls waterfall, including a footbridge that spans the river for different perspectives.  The area also connects to several miles of nearby trails, offering opportunities for longer walks through forested terrain. For those willing to venture a bit farther, additional Adirondack hiking options are within driving distance.

Fishing

Fishing is one of the biggest draws to this campground. The St. Regis River is well known for trout fishing, while waters above the dam provide excellent opportunities for northern pike, bass, and bullhead.  Whether you prefer casting from shore near your campsite or heading out by boat, the variety of species and accessible water make it a rewarding spot for anglers of all experience levels.
