Merry Den Alpacas is a charming family-run farm founded in 2007 by Pete and Sue McElwain, along with their children Maghan and Matt. What started after a visit to a local alpaca farm quickly grew into a passion, beginning with just three Huacaya alpacas and expanding over the years to a herd of around 26. Today, the family continues to focus on high-quality care for their animals while sharing their love of alpacas with visitors from near and far.

For tourists, the farm offers guided tours where guests can meet the alpacas up close, learn about their personalities, and discover how they are raised and cared for throughout the year. Visitors gain insight into the alpaca lifestyle, their origins in the Andes Mountains, and the unique qualities of their luxurious fleece.

Alongside the tours, Merry Den Alpacas also features a farm store filled with a variety of alpaca fiber products. Guests can browse items such as soft socks, cozy hats, warm mittens, and scarves—all made from alpaca fiber known for being incredibly warm, lightweight, and softer than cashmere. With natural insulation and a wide range of beautiful colors, these handcrafted goods make meaningful souvenirs and practical keepsakes from a memorable farm visit.
